Let’s just get this out of the way: flying with a toddler or young child is not relaxing. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or has a toddler who sleeps 9 hours straight on command, in which case, I don’t want to hear about it.
Between running a daycare full of little people who lose their minds over a snack being the wrong color, and flying with my own two girls (across the world at times), I’ve picked up a pretty solid list of what actually works in the air versus what sounded good on Pinterest and then sat untouched the whole flight. So here’s my real, tested-by-chaos list.

- Bluetooth Wireless Transmitter/Receiver – absolutely necessary so you can watch subpar movies on the airplane TV with your AirPods
- Motion Sickness Patches – These little suckers help with nausea, vertigo, and headaches.
- Inflatable Foot Rest – This was a lifesaver when we moved to Italy. Keep it deflated until you get on the plane. Then, simply blow it up when you find your seat. Blowing it up was my least favorite part of this…I felt eyes on me. Fit it snug between your child’s seat and the seat in front of them and viola! It kept toys and food from falling and made the perfect little bed!
- LCD Writing Tablets – I bought this 2-pack because I have 2 kids. There are lots of individual options on Amazon though. (Or check Target and Walmart!)
………stay tuned. Currently adding to this page.
